Great Northern has a New District Executive

 

Brenton Dana has been named the District Executive for the Great Northern District of the Pee Dee Area Council for Boy Scouts of America. Brenton, 26 and his brothers, Radisson, and the late Payson Dana, were the first triplets in the history of scouting to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout at the same time. They were members of Troop 504 in Darlington under the late Swint Brunson, a dedicated scout leader for most of his life.

Brenton is looking forward to promoting the rewards of scouting.  He is the son of Dwight and Paula Dana of Darlington, he is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.   He majored in public relations with a minor in political science.  He was a member and president of Chi Psi Franternity and served as vice-president of the Interfraternity Council.  He also worked for Legislative Sessions from 2004-2008 while enrolled at USC.

 

Upon Graduation, Brenton has worked in the External Relations Department of the Heritage foundation in Washington, DC.,  where he served in the Young Leaders Program and later with Darlington City Attorney, Newton "Bill" Howle, Jr.  He is also a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Darlington, were he serves as a lay reader and usher.

The Great Northern District has a long and proud history of Scouting. We are comprised of the Chesterfield, Darlington and Marlboro counties of South Carolina. Currently, we serve more than 550 youth with more than 250 dedicated volunteers. As a District, we have produced hundreds of Community and Industry Leaders. While not every child will become rich and famous, we believe that Scouting ensures that they will be the very best person they can be. We are a growing and dynamic group that is always looking for ways to offer our youth the best possible Scouting experience.
